Delta Life Science, led by Bart de Boer and Carolijn Hawinkels, has proudly launched the inQuiQ™ instrument. This innovative biosensor device offers rapid, sensitive, and cost-effective analyses of biomolecule interactions and represents a significant breakthrough in the life sciences and diagnostics.
We spoke with Carolijn Hawinkels, who led the co-development of the inQuiQ and thereby brings a breath of fresh air to the traditionally conservative sector in which the product is applied.
Carolijn: “My career started in a factory at Unilever, where my curiosity about how things work became a driving force. This natural inclination to analyze problems has helped me tackle complex challenges. I often enlisted the expertise of professionals who were directly involved with the issue at hand. By listening carefully and going back to the core of the problem, I was able to identify where things really went wrong and how we could solve it. This experience taught me to address both technical and complex issues. Later, I worked as an interim manager for 20 years, focusing on process improvement and restoring profitability in various organizations. My emphasis was always on creating value by defining clear responsibilities and making targeted investments.”
When Carolijn Hawinkels joined as interim-CEO at Delta Life Science, she became acquainted with the groundbreaking technology of the company. Together with Bart de Boer, they each find innovative solutions in their own unique ways that have propelled the company to new heights. With a strong focus on accelerating the development of personalized medicine and diagnostic tests, Delta Life Science aims to thoroughly validate and ensure its technologies for these purposes. The application of their innovative NES technology in a concrete product marks a significant advancement in the company's ambitious goals.
Carolijn: "At Delta Life Science, we view innovation as an absolute necessity; it is the only factor that truly matters. Our major challenge was how we could bring our groundbreaking technology to the attention of a typically conservative sector.
The collaboration with GBO Innovation makersthrough our engineering partner Sioux, was a strategic move to develop an innovative product that aligns with the ambition of Delta Life Science.
With the inQuiQ™-instrument we developed a compact and lightweight device, ideal for laboratories. It stands out for its user-friendliness and seamlessly integrated technology. The success of the inQuiQ™ development was due to open communication and good accessibility. This allowed us to respond quickly and make the right decisions, resulting in an exceptionally fast time to market.
Our collaboration with Delta Life Science on the inQuiQ™ instrument is an example of the synergy between innovative technology and thoughtful design. By combining Delta’s groundbreaking NES technology with our expertise in product development and production, we have created a biosensing instrument that is at the forefront of scientific research.
Carolijn: "In our collaboration with GBO Innovation makers I especially appreciate the speed of response, the openness toward each other, the hands-on mentality, and the constant pursuit of the highest quality. This collaboration demonstrates how an innovative approach, combined with strong project management, can lead to extraordinary results. It has helped us look beyond the usual boundaries and realize new opportunities."
At GBO Innovation makers we look forward to seeing how inQuiQ™ will enable researchers and professionals in the life science industry to make new discoveries and further develop the biosensing sector. We anticipate future collaborations that challenge us to push the boundaries of design and technology even further.
