Design an economically valuable, compact, easier to use paper converter for a new market.
The Geami Wrap ’n Go™ converter expands die-cut kraft paper into a protective 3D honeycomb structure. A modular design allows you to meet your own very specific packaging needs. This small and retail-focused solution is an excellent fit for in-store packaging environments.
The Ranpak Geami Wrap ‘n Go™ metal housing is designed with durability and flexibility in mind. It can be placed on a counter or mounted on a wall. Brackets for tissue interleaf paper can be added on either mounting, providing even better surface protection.

Brackets can be added for tissue interleaf paper, providing even more surface protection. A unique patented friction-based system was developed which applies a constant force on the roll. By pushing the lever paper can be loaded, and the system can be locked or adjusted
In the engineering process we started by defining the product requirements. This includes calculating tensile force characteristics and optimizing the positioning of parts. In total we made 6 prototypes. The major advantage of rapid collaboration between designers and engineers is the seamless integration of the mechanism in the final design. After the prototype, we drew up and transferred the final 2D drawings. We support Ranpak in the ‘going to production’ phase.
A jury panel of 132 independent design experts awarded the Ranpak Geami Wrap ‘n Go™ based on an overall assessment of challenging criteria. The competition was intense: almost 11,000 products were submitted from 57 countries. All hoping to receive the prestigious seal of quality. The jury process consisted of two phases, an online pre-selection and a three-day lasting physical assessment in Berlin. This year the jurors used the newly developed digital jury tool both on and offline. As a result, all submitted products were extensively assessed based on the challenging criteria: Idea, Differentiation, Function, Form, and impact. All award-winning entries are featured on www.ifdesign.com and published in the iF Design App.
The design of the machine housing can be summarized in three characteristics: accessibility, visibility and modular. The machine can be mounted in two directions (left and right). The biggest advantage of the new large sliding doors is the operator’s view and the machine is easy to clean and repair. The new panels also create space for internal sound insulation.
