The Geami Wrap ’n Go™ converter transforms die-cut kraft paper into a protective 3D honeycomb structure. At the start of the project, the challenge from Ranpak was to design an economically valuable, compact, user-friendly paper converter for the retail market.
The modular design allows the user to meet their very specific packaging needs. This small, retail-focused solution is excellent for packaging environments in stores. The uniquely designed system is patented and has won an international design award.
The Ranpak Geami Wrap ’n Go™ metal housing is designed with sustainability and flexibility in mind. It can be placed on the counter or mounted on the wall. The system is easy to understand, user-friendly, and compact enough to fit on the counter. Brackets can be added for interleaving paper, providing even better surface protection. A unique patented friction-based system has been developed that exerts a constant force on the roll.
In the engineering process, we began by defining the product requirements, including calculating the tensile force and optimizing the positioning of components. A total of 6 prototypes were made. The great advantage of rapid collaboration between designers and engineers is the seamless integration of the mechanism into the final housing design. After the prototype, we sent the final 2D drawings to Ranpak and supported them in the ‘going to production’ phase.
