Twickto is the story of a father searching for construction toys for his children. When he couldn’t find what he was looking for, he decided to create his own designs. However, his sketches ended up in a safe and were forgotten. Twenty years later, his son used these sketches to build a real toy brand together with us, based on his father’s creative vision.
The vision was that the product had to be fully production-ready and exude high quality, allowing the startup Twickto to challenge the existing market leaders with a product that can quickly create voluminous objects and promote collaborative play.
Within a year, Twickto was in over 550 toy stores in the Netherlands. International expansion followed quickly. In 2018, it won the highest international design award: the iF GOLD Design Award. In the same year, it was also nominated for Toy of the Year in the Netherlands.
Based on existing products and patents, the market was analyzed. It turned out that there was still room in the market for Twickto. A visit to the international toy fair in Nuremberg (Germany) prompted further refinement of the concept. The combination of functionality and design formed the basis for various conceptual directions that were explored and developed. The goal was to launch ten different packages at various price levels.
From a father searching for a new type of construction toy for his children to a completely new brand and an internationally award-winning product.
Various concepts and prototypes based on design ideas were tested, evaluated, and refined. This was possible with the help of schools and private households. All prototypes during the process were manufactured in our own design studio using 3D printing techniques. This made it possible to quickly convert ideas into prototypes.
For the Twickto tool: we have managed the production of the Twicktool. The Twicktool is made from the zinc alloy Zamak according to NEN specifications and ABS plastic. This robust tool is essential for creating special connections with Twickto.
The consistent graphic design connects all products, corporate identity, and communication of Twickto. A coherent style conveys a clear message. All activities were aimed at the product launch at the toy fair in Nuremberg (Germany). Twickto successfully presented itself there.
