We Drive Solar combines electric driving and sustainable energy into a single, future-oriented system. With 100% electric shared cars, a range of 300 kilometers, and a fixed charging station, emission-free mobility is made simple and accessible. The charging station is a key component of this concept: thanks to bidirectional technology, energy can not only be charged but also delivered back to the neighborhood. Each car thus functions as a mobile battery that stores solar energy and supports the local energy grid.
The charging station's design was developed with a focus on robustness, waterproofness, and ease of maintenance. The requirements for water and impact resistance (IP65 / IK10) dictated its construction. A carefully designed inner cover with a decorative outer cover creates a sleek, modern look without visible mounting points. Thanks to the technically optimized interior, the design freedom was created to refine the exterior aesthetically, with a clean design, seamless finish, and a durable, weatherproof appearance.
The product was brought from concept to completion in just three months thanks to close collaboration between the GBO team and We Drive Solar's engineers. GBO's expertise in charging infrastructure and product development ensured optimal integration of design, functionality, and manufacturability.
All screws are uniform in type, size, and orientation, with the exception of one screw securing the decorative cover. All fastening points are easily accessible from the front, significantly simplifying installation and maintenance. This consistent use of fasteners optimizes assembly, reduces error sensitivity, and simplifies both service and purchasing.
